Flowers

thumb_CC_6291flowers-easter-2011

There are seven ladies who arrange flowers in the church on a regular basis. Yes, we would love to have more ladies to help us! The ladies do do not have to pay for the flowers personally. Any costs are refunded.

Donations by parishioners towards funding the flowers in the church would be most gratefully accepted.

We take it in turns to arrange the flowers per week, usually one person per week. For the big feasts such as Christmas, Easter, Confirmation and First Holy Communion we all help as you can imagine flowers as we did for Christmas took hours and hours to put together. And equally, hours to dismantle and sweep up all the agapanthus flowers that had messed all over!

Funding

The flowers are purchased with money received from the Ladies' group funds. Sometimes, e.g. First Holy Communion and Confirmation - the parents make a donation for the flowers. We also have to buy Oasis which is quite expensive and vases when necessary.

Silk Flowers

We have quite a good stock of silk flowers at the church which we use in between the real flowers to save money. If any parishioners have silk flowers in good condition which they would like to donate, we would be happy to accept them.

Weddings and Funerals

We also do flowers for weddings and funerals, when we have donations to cover the cost of the flowers.
